Lambda Chi Alpha held its Second General Assembly at our MIT chapter house in Boston — a pivotal moment where the fraternity adopted its secret motto, ritual insignia, and organizational structure.
MIT pledge Oliver R. Smoot was used to measure the Harvard Bridge by his fraternity brothers, creating the legendary unit of measurement. The bridge is 364.4 Smoots (± 1 ear) long. A plaque commemorates the event to this day.
